We asked Nettle™ users about their experience - here’s what they said

All data in this article reflects feedback from real, paying Nettle™ users who had been using the device for six months. Findings are true as of August 26, 2025.

When we launched Nettle™, our goal was simple: to help women take back control of their cycle - from period pain and PMS, to the lows of PMDD, to the chronic pelvic pain of endometriosis, and the many other ways menstrual health can affect mood and daily life.

Once users had reached six months of use, we sent them a follow-up email asking for their honest feedback. Their responses revealed something simple but significant: less time lost to pain, less reliance on medication, and a greater sense of stability across the month.

Here’s a snapshot of their answers, and we’re always on hand to answer any other questions you may have on support@samphireneuro.com.

A month back, every year

For many women, cycle symptoms don’t just cause discomfort - they disrupt life. Work, study, childcare, social plans: all too often, they’re the first things to go when pain or mood symptoms hit.

80% of women told us they had fewer sick days or interruptions since starting with Nettle™. On average, that meant almost two days regained each month - adding up to nearly a full month of life back across a year.

Moving away from the medicine cabinet

For years, menstrual health has relied on the same handful of options: painkillers, hormonal contraception, antidepressants. They help some women, but they bring trade-offs - side effects, long-term risks, or the frustration of not working at all.

Nettle™ users told us that after six months, many of them were able to step away from that cycle. Nearly nine out of ten said they had changed their medication use. Most cut back on painkillers, some reduced antidepressants, and others stopped hormonal treatments altogether.

Here’s how it broke down:

  • Painkillers: 64% reduced use (e.g. ibuprofen, co-codamol)
  • Antidepressants: 21% reduced or stopped use
  • Hormonal treatments: 15% stopped or reduced

The words they shared were striking:

For many, Nettle™ wasn’t just relief from symptoms - it was freedom from a treatment plan that never really fit. And to be clear: we’re pro-choice when it comes to medication. For some, pharmaceuticals are essential. For others, they’re not the right answer. What matters is that women are given real options - and that Nettle™ is one of them.

Escaping the waiting room loop

The other thing women spoke about wasn’t pain or mood directly, but time. Living with menstrual health concerns often means countless GP visits, referrals, and specialist appointments - the long grind of trying to be heard.

After six months with Nettle™, users reported that they avoided an average of 1.43 GP appointments and 1.31 specialist appointments per month. In practice, that meant fewer mornings spent on hold to book appointments, fewer afternoons lost in waiting rooms, and less energy wasted chasing care.

Women want this sooner

When we asked women where in their care journey they would most want Nettle™ to be offered, the answers were telling. More than half said they wished their GP had suggested it. Another third wanted it straight after receiving a diagnosis like PMDD or endometriosis. And many said they would have valued Nettle™ most during those long months of waiting for a specialist appointment.

The message is clear: women don’t want to wait years for better options. They want them at the very start of their journey.

Why this matters

Too often, women are told to put up with pain. To try another pill. To wait and see.

The voices of Nettle™ users tell a different story. After six months of consistent use, they described fewer sick days, fewer pills, fewer appointments - and more clarity, more energy, more control.

It’s proof that when we work with the brain - the control center of how your cycle feels - we can begin to change the everyday experience of menstrual health. That’s exactly why we built Nettle™.
